Parental Getaway :: Playa Mujeres

This past week my handsome hubby and I spent some much needed time "just the two of us" away celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary. We spent the majority of our time on the East coast of Mexico in Playa Mujeres. It was time for us to stop + connect without the distractions of kiddos and every day life. For us (as I'm sure most of you can relate) it is so easy to get caught up in all of the day-to-day activities and to-dos that we forget to take time for each other.
The Excellence Resort in Playa Mujeres was the perfect escape. A little bit outside of Cancun we were able to enjoy a quieter + more secluded vacation packed with all of the luxuries the resort had to offer. I'm talking all inclusive, unlimited premium margaritas + lots of room service + picture perfect views. What more can you ask for?
After this vacation we have come to the conclusion that we, as husband and wife, HAVE to make "us" a priority. We love our children to the ends of the Earth, but if we don't stop every once in a while and take time to cultivate our love and marriage, we won't be able to be the best we can be at this whole parenting thing. I want our marriage to get stronger every day and to show our children the value in finding a partner that brings balance to your heart and life. I am blessed beyond measure to have an amazing man that loves me + makes me better. Already dreaming of our next adventure!

We love to learn about the different cultures of the world, especially places we are visiting. So we put on our walking shoes and made a day trip to Tulum, an ancient Mayan city further down the coast of Mexico. Tulum beach is one of the top 5 beaches in the world, and we could see why. Perfect white sand + crystal blue waters. Also, fun fact, Mexico has the second largest coral reef in the world after the Great Berrier Reef. We got to do some snorkeling on it with a few of our new sea turtle buds. It was truly a dream come true.
